14 That’s My Boy
Starring: Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Leighton Meester, James Caan
Director: Sean Anders, John Morris
Out: 15 June 2012
A disagreeable father (Sandler) moves in with his son (Samberg) and the young man’s fiancee just before the son is to get married. The father and fiancee immediately clash. Badly. The strange 12 year age difference between father and son is explained by Sandler’s character having had sex with a teacher while in high school. The movie is produced by Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions (‘Jack & Jill’, ‘Zookeeper’, ‘Grown Ups’). One of the directors helmed ‘Sex Drive’. My hunch is watching Sandler going head to head with Leighton Meester isn’t going to be very funny, I can’t remember the last time I cracked a smile at Meester, and Sandler shouting at a young woman will likely come off as mean. But let’s see. [Critics: 21%] [Public: 5.5] – Mediocre
