6 Bacon Cheeseburger Buns
If sausage rolls and homemade bagel bites aren’t appealing appetizers to you, then you might want to take on this bite-sized treat that’s stuffed with bacon. It’s a fun way to serve bacon cheeseburgers without the fuss of assembling the sandwiches by the dozen and these convenient bites can be dipped into ketchup or your own favourite sauce. The best part is: the prep work doesn’t require that much time! As you knead a soft dough made up of yeast, milk, sugar, shortening, eggs, salt and 3 1/2 cups flour, you’re required to crisp bacon over a medium heat to create your filling. Most recipes require you to slightly cook the strips of glory but in this case the strips and a pound of shredded cheese will be added to a mixture of ground beef and onion. Once the filling is created, rectangular portions of dough just need to be cut into squares so they can be wrapped around a 1/4 cup of the meat mixture. Bringing in the corners and pinching the edges seals the mini “pockets” and allows them to be baked on greased sheets for 10 minutes until they’re lightly browned. As a whole, the dish follows the basic instructions you would use to make any other pastry. It’s just the bacon will pack an entirely original punch once you sink your teeth into a bun.
